USS Yorktown - April 17-19
Our annual "Big Trip" is to the aircraft carrier USS Yorktown at Patriot’s Point, in Mount Pleasant, SC!!! As the website claims, "Kids sleep in the bunks where the sailors slept, eat in the CPO mess, hop in the cockpit of a real fighter jet as they learn about aviation; in short, let their imaginations run wild!"

Friday 17 Apr
6:00 pm – ARRIVE at Patriots Point
7:00 to 9:00 – Unpack, Movie, explore ship
9:30 pm - Mandatory Safety and Fire drill
11:00 pm – Lights Out
Saturday 18 Apr
7:00 am – Reveille
7:50 am – Breakfast in Mess Hall
8:15 am – Board ferry to Fort Sumter
12:00 pm – Lunch (possibly box lunch)
1:00 to 5:00 pm – Free time to tour sites
5:00 pm - Dinner in Mess Hall
6:00 to 10:00 pm – movies onboard, tour ship/area
11:00 – Lights out

6:00 am – Reveille
6:50 am – Breakfast in Mess Hall
7:30 to 9:00 am – Pack and Depart ship

Program includes:
- Friday night and Saturday night camping onboard the YORKTOWN
- Meals included from Sat Breakfast through Sun Breakfast. Friday dinner is NOT included.
- Movies in the ship’s theater
- Self-guided tours of ships berthed at Patriots Point, including Aircraft Carrier YORKTOWN, Submarine CLAMAGORE and Destroyer LAFFEY
- Vietnam Naval Support Base (self-guided)
- Medal of Honor Museum
- Patriots Point Onsite Program – FORT SUMTER Tour (Tentative)
- Scouting Patch for each camper

- We must enter Ship as one group
- Late arrivals will delay the whole group

Important Notes:
- Siblings must be 6 years old or over to camp overnight on ship
- Males and Females are in separate sleeping quarters…no exceptions. Sleeping quarters are heated and air conditioned.
- Pack lightly. You must carry your gear down a long dock to ship. Bring clothing (Wear Class A in transit), sleeping bag, pillow, soap, shampoo, other toiletries, bath towel, ear plugs, insect repellent (non-aerosol)
- Meals are served “Navy” fashion in the Chief Petty Officers’ Mess.
- No carry-on food or drinks will be allowed. A snack bar and vending machines are available in addition to scheduled meals.
- You are allow to leave ship and explore area, eat elsewhere

Cost:
- $50 Scouts (45% discount due to Popcorn)
- $92 Parents and Siblings
- 100 spots are currently reserved, and will be filled on a first come basis
- However some preference may be given to scouts over siblings and scouts that have never gone to Patriots Point in previous years
- Sign up is closed.
- Money is due now and must be given to Jim Bishop ASAP(100 Parkspring Ct, Cary, NC 27519).
- Payment is NON-REFUNDABLE after 20Jan. If you must cancel after you sign up and pay, we will attempt to find someone to take your spot. This is NOT guaranteed.
- You may choose to stay in a local hotel, at YOUR OWN expense, instead of on the ship. If you decide to do this, you have two program options:
- Be a "Camper": To join the pack in all meals and activities, including the excursion trip (tentatively a visit to Fort Sumter), each person must pay the full price for the camping package. You will have access to the ship all day and night. You will be able to join the Pack for all activities and meals. For this option, pay full package price to the pack.
- Be a "Public Visitor": You may board the ship on Saturday from 9am to 6:30pm by paying the a la carte ticket prices. $20 for age 12+, $12 for age 6-11, Free for 6 and under. Meals and the excursion to Ft. Sumter are not included in the ticket price and would have to be arranged by you separately. You will not have access to the ship during breakfast with the Pack. You will have access during lunch; there is a snack bar on board. For this option, pay no money to the Pack. Buy tickets online (http://www.patriotspoint.org/).
