Big Trip 2014 at Camp McNeill
Camp McNeill Cub Scout World
Enjoy a weekend of fun at Camp McNeill Cub Scout World in White Oak, NC: !
Friday - Plan to arrive at camp, just south of Fayetteville, on Friday evening any time after 4pm. !
Saturday - It’s FUN, FUN, FUN, all day long! Activities include archery, BB guns, crossing the
water in Tom Sawyer boats, playing on a pirate ship, exploring a gold mine shaft, making crafts, and
playing other outdoor games. After a Pack 216 pizza dinner in the dining hall, we will have a
campfire program where dens can perform skits/songs. We may also hold a flag retirement ceremony
(does anyone have an old US flag?) Don’t forget to bring marshmallows and chocolates for s’mores! !
Sunday - After breakfast and a short non-denominational service (a scout is reverent), it will be
time to pack up, head home, and celebrate Mother’s Day :-) !
Cost: Thanks to money raised from popcorn, these fees can be kept low:
Scouts Free
Adults and Siblings $20
What meals should we plan on? Families are responsible for their own dinner Friday night, breakfast
and lunch on Saturday, and breakfast on Sunday. Dens may choose to plan and eat these meals
together. Camp stoves are wonderful if you want to get the camping experience. Or, if you want to
keep it simple, sandwiches and cereal are fine too! !
Pack 216 will eat together in the dining hall Saturday night for a salad & pizza (cheese/pepperoni)
dinner. This meal is included with the camp fees. !
What should I bring? Tent, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, tarp, flashlight/headlamp, lantern, camp stove
with propane, eating utensils, food, water, cooler, folding chairs, clothes, toiletries. A camp table
would also be useful if you have one. There are nearby restroom and shower facilities. !
What should I wear? Scouts travel in Class A uniform, but then Class B and comfortable clothing
while at camp. Remember that it can be chilly at night. !
Where is Camp McNeill? The address is Cub Range Trail, NC 28399. It is about 95 miles from Cary.
Where do I sign up for this awesome event? Sign up on the Pack 216 website coming soon! !
What can I do to help? We need parents to help run each of the activities. Please contact Jim Bishop
if you can help out.
