Pack 216 has had a great year full of fun trips and activities!
Picnic
The pack kicked off the year with our annual picnic. It was great to get together again after summer vacation, and to welcome the new group of Tiger Cubs to the pack. We enjoyed food, fun games, and traditional scouting songs and activities.
Camporee
In October, the pack celebrated 100 years of scouting by joining our council at the centenial camporee. Happy 100th birthday boy scouts!
Tiger Rescue
In November, we visited the Tiger Rescue, a sanctuary for rescued tigers and other exotic carnivores.
Planetarium
We went to the planetarium in Chapel Hill and learned about the earth, moon, and sun.
Pinewood Derby
Our most popular activity. Congratulations to all scouts who built and raced cars in this year's event.
Blue and Gold Banquet
A cub scout tradition. We dine together, enjoyed a performance by a magician, and most importantly recognized all the scouts achievements for the year. The highlight was our second year Webelos scouts receiving their Arrow of Light award and bridging to boy scouts in a special ceremony.
Conservation Project
We kept our promised to help other people. We planted flowers and spread mulch at Koka Booth Amphitheater.
Family Campout
We took advantage of the great facilities at Camp Durant, when we went camping with our families in the spring.
Night with Durham Bulls
In June we joined scouts from around North Carolina at Durham Bulls Athletic Park. We paraded around the field before the game, watched the game, and then spent the night camping in the outfield.
Summer Camp
Many of our scouts took part in the Occoneechee Council's summer camp offerings. Cub scouts attend day camp, while Webelos can attend a week long resident camp at Camp Durant. Twilight Camp is a third option, including camping one night at Optimist Farm.
The Big Trip
The Big Trip is the highlight of each year for Pack 216, and this year was no exception. We traveled to Roanoke Island and visited Festival Park where we toured an early English settlement and ship and a Native American Village.
Then we went to the Roanoke Island Aquarium where we enjoyed a series of special programs and then spent the night, sleeping next to the shark tank!
Football Camping Trip
In September we went to the Duke-Army Football Game. We were on the field for the player's tunnel, and then we camped overnight nearby.
Corn Maze
In the Fall we visited our local corn maze.
Popcorn Fundraiser
Our annual fundraiser is selling Trail's End popcorn. Congratulations to all of our scouts that developed character, earned prizes, and helped raise money for the pack's trips and activities.
Thanksgiving Baskets
In the spirit of Thanksgiving, our scouts helped collect and sort food to give to families who needed it.
Christmas Caroling
We visited a local retirement home and sang Christmas carols for the residents.
Rock Climbing
We had a great outing to Triangle Rock Club this year.
Bridging Ceremony
In May, we finished the formal scout year with a special celebration where the scouts advanced to the next rank. The Tigers became Wolves, the Wolves became Bears, and the Bears became Webelos.
Scouting for Food Drive
In July, we volunteered our time to help collect, sort, weigh, and transport 862 pounds of food donations for the Western Wake Crisis Ministry.
